Army Promises to Reimburse Soldiers Affected by Broken Tuition Assistance Website
2021
The Facebook page for the Army's tuition assistance program and a Reddit community have been flooded with daily complaints.
In a press conference Wednesday, the United States Army announced that it will reimburse soldiers for out of pocket tuition expenses because a website used by approximately 100,000 soldiers to access tuition benefits has been broken for months after the Army shifted its support contract from GoArmyEd, run by IBM, to ArmyIgnitED, a service designed by contractor Deloitte. Soldiers are reporting difficulties signing up for new courses because the schools have not received payment for previous classes. A congressional staffer stated that the problem may persist for up to a year.
