##### War in Afghanistan
# The Pentagon announces that they will send U.S. troops to Kabul's Hamid Karzai International Airport in order to help evacuate staff from the U.S. Embassy. U.S. Department of State spokesperson Ned Price announced that the embassy will continue to remain open.

The U.S. will significantly cut the size of its diplomatic presence at the Embassy in Afghanistan, the State Department said, amid fresh concerns that the deteriorating security situation will make it more difficult to evacuate personnel if the government falls following the American pullout of forces.
