# Authorities in Niger confirm that at least 49 people died of dehydration in an isolated part of the Sahara desert near the country's borders with Algeria and Mali, after their truck broke down while returning from Mali and stranded for several days. Only two survive after trekking to Assamakka, Agadez Region.
