Iranian Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps captures British tanker "Stena Impero" and temporarily seizes British-operated and Liberian-flagged tanker "Mesdar" in the Persian Gulf. British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt says there will be "serious consequences" if Iran does not release the tanker.
A car bomb explodes near a police post in Chabahar, Iran. Two police officers are pronounced dead and around 40 people were wounded in the attack. Islamic militant group Ansar Al-Furqan claims responsibility. Iran accuses the perpetrators of being "foreign-backed terrorists".
