Turkey reports 28,351 new cases, including 6,814 symptomatic cases. The country now has 467,730 symptomatic cases. Health Minister Fahrettin Koca states that for the first time since July, the number of asymptomatic cases will be reported. Turkey also reports a record 168 new deaths, bringing the nationwide death toll to 12,840.
A court in Turkey sentences 121 people to life in prison for their role in the 2016 attempted coup. Eighty-six were sentenced to "aggravated" life imprisonment for "attempting to violate the constitution".
Turkey deploys the Gendarmerie General Command to the eastern city of Batman after a riot erupts inside the city's Type-M prison. The riot comes after the Turkish parliament approved the release of 100,000 inmates due to COVID-19, but excluded journalists and political prisoners, many of whom are Kurds.
