Venezuelan Interior Minister Néstor Reverol says the country's security forces have foiled a "marine incursion" by "terrorist mercenaries" from Colombia, killing at least eight gunmen and capturing two others. The foreign group reportedly landed on a beach in the city of La Guaira on speedboats.
Millionaire Italian yacht businessman Giulio Lolli is convicted of terrorism in Libya and sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Tripoli. Lolli is wanted for fraud in Italy, and his Italian lawyer says the Libyan legal case appears to be based on Lolli using a yacht to evacuate fighters from Tripoli.
Through a royal decree, King Salman of Saudi Arabia revokes the citizenship of Hamza bin Laden, Osama bin Laden's son, who works in the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization. The announcement comes after the United States government offered a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the identification or location of him. Interpol has issued an Interpol notice for him after United Nations Security Council imposed sanctions on him which includes assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo. He remains at large.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Yusuf Raza Gilani warns the United States that it will defend its air space from incursions following the raid on Osama bin Laden's compound and denies collaborating with al-Qaeda.
