The Syrian military continues to pound Aleppo with artillery. Opposition forces claim that they have driven the Syrian army out of the city.
Syrian government forces, backed by Russian air strikes, capture another rebel-held village near Aleppo, according to a Russian source. In the last two days, the Syrian Army captured positions at the Hama and Raqqa provincial border, and is set to move against the Islamic State in the Raqqa Governorate, according to a Syrian military source.
The Syrian Army is reportedly preparing for a large-scale offensive in Aleppo, with the US State Department citing credible reports of tank columns moving into the city, backed by special forces, helicopter gunships and fixed-wing aircraft.
