German airline Lufthansa resumes flights between Cairo and Frankfurt and Munich, while British Airways flights to Cairo remain cancelled for six more days. The UK Foreign Office warns against "all travel" to certain parts of Egypt, but its standard advice for Cairo is for passengers to check for changes.
Nine people are killed in two coordinated attacks targeting Coptic Christians in Egypt. Two of the victims are killed by a gunman in a Coptic-owned appliance store in the Helwan area of Cairo. The gunman then moves to a church where he kills a further six civilians and a policeman before being arrested.
King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud announces, during his trip to Cairo, that a bridge crossing the Red Sea will be built, linking Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi says the bridge will be named after the Saudi monarch. A Saudi–Egypt Causeway project has been in the works for years.
