Biden urges the Federated States of Micronesia to rejoin after the country withdrew over disagreements in the election of Henry Puna as the forum's Secretary-General.
Fijian Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama urges the leaders of the Federated States of Micronesia, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Kiribati, and Palau to reconsider their decision of leaving the Pacific Islands Forum and says that this is an opportunity to fight climate change. Bainimarama also invites U.S. President Joe Biden to the next forum meeting in August.
Jioji Konrote is elected President of Fiji by the country's Parliament. Konrote, Fiji's Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, received 31 votes, defeating Epeli Ganilau, who garnered 14 votes.
