Koppu strengthens to a typhoon ahead of threatening lives and properties in the Philippines island of Luzon over the weekend.
The Taal Volcano in southern Luzon, Philippines, spews an ash plume that measures approximately 10 to km. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology designates a "level 4" alert level, indicating "an imminent hazardous eruption".
Flights are cancelled and evacuations are ordered for over 100,000 people in the North Central Coast of Vietnam, in preparation for Typhoon Doksuri. The system has already claimed four lives passing over the Philippines.
