Chancellor Angela Merkel announces that the partial lockdown will not be lifted until December 20 at the earliest, and may be extended until the beginning of January unless there is an unexpected drop in infections. Additional measures will also be introduced, including requiring masks in schools and limiting private gatherings to five people from two households beginning December 1.
