France France's "Autorité de la concurrence" fines Google a record €500M ($593M) for breaching an April 2020 ruling that ordered the company to negotiate "in good faith" licensing deals with publishers and news agencies for any re-use of copyrighted content. 2021 South African unrest The death toll from the protests following the arrest of former President Jacob Zuma increases to 72, as more violent incidents occur.
