Public health restrictions are eased in New South Wales (NSW) and Victoria. Close contacts of COVID-19 cases will no longer be required to isolate for seven days (although some restrictions remain in place for close contacts over that period), masks will only be required on public transport and in medical settings, QR check-ins are abolished, recovered COVID-19 cases will not be required to test or isolate again for 12 weeks (extended from the previous 8 weeks), and vaccination mandates are lifted (other than in aged care and disability support). NSW also abolishes capacity limits on public transport and Victoria abolishes the need for government approval for large events.
