20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party
The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party closes in Beijing, China. The party's new 205-member Central Committee, elected by delegates at the end of the week-long congress, did not include outgoing Premier Li Keqiang or former Guangdong party secretary Wang Yang, who had been seen as a potential replacement as premier. The Сongress has been described as strengthening the power of Xi Jinping, who is likely to be re-elected as General Secretary tomorrow.
