An annular solar eclipse lasting up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds is visible from Antarctica, the Southern Ocean, and the South Indian Ocean. It is the first eclipse on February 17 to occur since February 1897 lunar eclipse. Observers in south Argentina & Chile, as well as south Africa and Madagascar, also see a partial eclipse. It is the last annular solar eclipse to be visible in the contigous Antarctica until 2061.
