2019–20 Hong Kong protests

Four Hong Kong pro-democracy legislators are stripped of their seats by China's National People's Congress Standing Committee. The four legislators are Alvin Yeung, Dennis Kwok, Kwok Ka-ki and Kenneth Leung. Most pro-democracy legislators resigned shortly after the announcement. Chief Executive Carrie Lam initiated the process and welcomes the decision. Critics fear this will turn the legislature into a rubber stamp for pro-Beijing policies.
